FAQ

Do I need a passport/visa?

US citizens will need a valid passport to visit Belize, but no visa is required at this time. Passports will need to be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry in Belize.  Belize reserves the right to refuse entry if passports expire before the 6 month mark.

Nationals of all other countries should check travel requirements well in advance of their retreat.

What airport should I fly into?

Please schedule your flight into Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE).   Flights on Tropic Air to San Pedro Island run frequently from BZE and will get you to the retreat, and the beach, quickly.

How do I book my flight on Tropic Air?

Once you've booked your international flight, please forward details to Jen at The Travel Yogi. The flights on Tropic Air will be booked directly by Ak'bol and payment for the flights will be collected, in US dollars, when you arrive.

Do I need to bring my own mat, blocks, straps, etc?

Yes, please plan on bringing your own mat and any yoga accessories you use or want in your daily practice.

Do I need any inoculations?

Generally speaking, traveling to foreign countries exposes you to new germs and diseases. All inoculations or malaria tablet inquiries need to be directed to your physician for an accurate assessment of your individual need or preference.

Is there surfing?

Belize is not famed for it's surf. Leave your board at home and pick up your snorkel and mask. If you absolutely must get on a board, kite surfing should deliver your fix.

Do I need to book and/or pay for any optional activities before I arrive?

Nope, you can book them when you arrive or at any time during your stay. The retreat can book all of the excursions in and around Belize at the same price you'd pay in town...no mark up and all of the convenience.

Do I need cash at the retreat?

No, you don't. Everything is included in your stay with the exceptions of alcohol and optional activities and spa services. You can pay with cash (US dollars or Belizean dollars) or, for your convenience, Visa/MC.

What about mosquitoes?

All of the Cabanas have nets around the beds and all of the Yoga Suites have screens on the window to keep the mosquitoes out. Still, this is not a holiday you will spend in your room so do come prepared with bug spray. The CDC does list San Pedro island as a known area of malaria, but cases of malaria in Belize are low.
