Mia Togo

Mia Togo grew up as an avid equestrian and dancer in Murrieta, Ca. These pursuits dealt with energy, connection and expression of her spirit. Little did she know this would pave the way to her love and devotion of yoga.

At 18, she went on to dance professionally, working in film, TV, stage and music videos. While simultaneously earning her degree in Psychology from UCLA, the competitive world of dance revealed self-doubt and insecurities that needed attention and healing which led her to work with Mona Miller, her teacher and mentor. The process of self-inquiry and self-acceptance brought her to the practice of vinyasa flow yoga where she began to feel her body as a temple for healing. This work taught her to trust the intuitive nature of who we are, not who we think we should be.

Mia’s yoga practice began in 1996 with many teachers studying different styles and philosophies, ultimately finding her passion in vinyasa flow. The synchronicity of breath and movement creates an open space where the body is informed through alignment and breath, the mind is focused, the emotion flows freely, and there is connection to the authentic self. She teaches that yoga takes us toward the human side of life to explore the shadow without judgment. Through this process we understand our true nature, embrace our light, express our creative energy, and love from our truth.

Mia began teaching in 2004. She is a YogaWorks certified teacher and teacher trainer, as well as mentor for the YogaWorks 300-hour program. Mia teaches with an emphasis on detailed alignment geared towards an intelligence and purpose to her sequencing. Her purpose as a teacher is to allow the student to have an authentic experience that is sacred, healing, uplifting, and inspired by spirit.
