Quaint, picturesque, honest and completely unique; Stowe is better than anything out of Rockwell’s imagination.
This is a true New England four-season location. Yoga retreats in spring and summer are perfect for hiking, horseback riding, swimming and tractor hay rides to the Stowe Farmer’s Market. Fall yoga retreats include all of these wonderful activities, but add in New England’s fabulous and unbeatable fall foliage. Winter brings skiing, skiing and more skiing. Downhill or world class cross-country are minutes from the retreat doorstep along with guided snowshoeing and the winter-wonderland that is Stowe village.
All retreats include three meals a day prepared by New England Culinary graduates, natural horsemanship classes, yoga and unlimited dips in the outdoor jacuzzi or stops in the indoor dry sauna.
Outfitted with warm duvets and views, these cozy rooms all meet up in the heart of the lodge, the yoga room and kitchen.
Natural horsemanship is open to all, but is, of course, optional. For those that want additional time in the ring and open rides may sign up to do so. The classes are restricted to 4 yogis per week so please sign up when you book your retreat. If the option is not available then it is already sold out.
Join us in the beauty of any season and come see what all the fuss is about!

Skiasana Yoga Retreat: Maria Santoferraro MLK Holiday Weekend Jan 15-19, 2014
Treat yourself to a yogalicious 4-day weekend of yoga, meditation, skiing, good eats, friendly people, and the stunning natural beauty of Stowe, Vermont, a village known for its magnificent scenery and abundant cultural and recreational facilities.
What do you get when you combine yoga and skiing? A natural mountain and yoga high I like to call Skiasana. If you love yoga and love to ski, this 4-day retreat in Stowe, Vermont – named “Best in the East” skiing, according to Ski Magazine – is tailor-made for you.
Start each day with a vinyasa yoga class specifically designed to salute the snow and stretch your body and mind in preparation for an invigorating day of skiing, snowboarding, or hiking on Stowe Mountain. We’ll take the principles of alignment, balance, and awareness learned on the mat and utilize them on the slopes as we engage in winter outdoor adventures. After a day of breathing in fresh mountain air and relaxing back at the lodge in the hot tub and steam room, there will be a gentle candlelight yoga class with restorative poses and meditation by the fire to leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
Winter is not for hibernating; it’s an excellent time to connect with nature and to focus on your well-being. The yoga classes throughout this weekend will allow time for personal reflection, recharging, journaling, and deepening your meditation practice.
Stowe Mountain Ranch is ideally located 400 yards from the closest ski trails and is directly on the free winter shuttle route that brings guests to both the ski resort and the Stowe Village.
All meals are included and made of local organic foods, prepared by graduates of the prestigious New England Culinary Institute (an international culinary arts school) that is just a few miles away. The menu will focus on seasonal, healthy ingredients, including delicious options for vegetarians and special diets.
Non-skiers can enjoy everything from breathtaking mountain hikes and horse-drawn sleigh rides to ice skating and exploring in the quaint village of Stowe. Never skied or done yoga before? We all begin somewhere, so why not start with me this winter? Come with an open, beginners’ mind, and leave Vermont refreshed and full of bliss with a newfound passion for winter and your yoga and meditation practice.
What airport do I fly into?
If you are flying to Vermont you'll want to fly into Burlington (BVT), which is a 40min drive from Stowe. There are car rental companies at the airport or transfer services that can take you to Stowe.
Those that are driving will get directions before departure. Other airport options are Boston (~3.5hrs) and New York (~5.5hrs).
Is there internet access on property?
Yup, you can easily log on and share photos and stories of your week (we'd like to hear 'em!)
Do I need to bring my own mat, blocks, straps, etc?
You don't have to if you don't want to. This is a full stocked location but you are welcome to bring your favorite mat if you'd like.
Horses!! Can I go riding?
Everyone on retreat gets to spend some time with the horses. Gerry, the Stowe Cowboy, will offer everyone a natural horsemanship class and time in the ring with his three beauties (and I'm sure everyone will get to slip them an apple or two).
There are four spots per week available for those that want to get more hands-on time with the horses and go riding. Gerry will take these four through eight hours of horsemanship in the ring, ground training and riding. This add-on is weather permitting (not available in the winter) and given on a first-come, first-served basis.
Do I need to book any of the optional activities ahead of time?
There are so many things included in this trip that we recommend you start your week before booking extras. The only extra that needs to be booked ahead of time is the horsemanship extension as there are only 4 spaces available.
What do I need to bring?
Stowe is a laid back town with amazing outdoor options. Think hiking, biking, swimming, climbing, snow showing, downhill and cross-country; dress accordingly (ha). However, regardless of the season it can get chilly at night so bring a coat for an evening's campfire.
