Giselle Mari
Giselle Mari‘s introduction to yoga in the early 90’s was a natural progression from her gymnastics/dance background, her passion for music, and her childhood; she was raised by a bohemian flamenco dancer. Today all of these influence her style and approach to teaching and to life.
Giselle flavors her classes with spunk, grit, and spirit. Her light-hearted but comprehensive teaching style weaves yogic philosophy, Sanskrit, anatomy, skillful hands-on assists, funky eclectic music, and unabashed authenticity into her classes. Her offerings are not only designed to make you move, sweat, and reflect but to empower fearless curiosity about your spirit, increase self-acceptance, reconnect to our humanity and inspire spiritual activation; all while having a sense of humor.
Giselle had the honor to train under the direct tutelage of Sharon Gannon & David Life of the Jivamukti Yoga method for many years. As a senior teacher with advanced certification, she went on to serve as a faculty member for their esteemed teacher training, was a member on the advanced board exam panel. In addition, Giselle is grateful for the teachings of Sarah Powers, Paul Grilley, Jai Uttal, Jill Miller and to her Sanskrit/philosophy teacher Manorama who has illumined her path beyond words.
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Giselle presents her teachings all over the world, is a trainer of teachers and offers a mentorship program for new teachers. She’s graced the covers of Yoga Journal (U.S and Japan) and Yoga International Magazine as well as appeared in many of their articles. She’s also featured in both Kathryn Budig’s book “Women’s Health: The Big Book of Yoga” and Linda Sparrowe’s “Yoga at Home”. She’s written for Origin and Mantra Magazine and Yoga Journal, and is a teacher on YogaGlo.
When not teaching, she loves being with her amazing husband, daughter, four dogs and two frogs, all of who inspire and support her every day.
