Mayan Riviera Yoga Adventure

For the Chillax/Adventure Yogi

Get ready to recharge and rejuvenate on one of our best-loved yoga vacation packages.  Our Mexico Mayan Riviera yoga retreat vibe is unique. If you’re looking for a mix of nature, culture, cuisine, and beach then this Mexican adventure is the one for you. You’ll fly in and out of Cancun but skip the tourist hustle-and-bustle for the simple homeyness and delicious eats in the local hamlet of Puerto Morelos. This tiny beach town is home to one of the largest coral reefs in the world, a place where you can snorkel for hours or just relax on the calm beach, soaking up the rays. This Mexican adventure is one of our most balanced yoga retreats abroad as we juggle days of adventure with beach-chillaxing. Expect to dive in cenotes, swim with sea turtles, visit the ruins of Tulum and get a taste of local Mayan culture on a seva day that brings the food and the fun. All of this on one of our most affordable yoga retreats that’s an easy non-stop (from many US cities) flight. Morning and evening yoga sessions keep you grounded on this yoga retreat on the Mayan Riviera in Mexico. In addition, it gives you the chance to escape the grind and find gratitude in a laid-back, warm-watered, white-sanded slice of paradise.

Frequently Asked Questions

U.S. citizens will need a passport to visit Mexico, but no visa is required at this time.  Passports will require at least one blank page for an entry stamp.  Entry information can change so please visit the State Department page for up to date information. Nationals of all other countries should check travel requirements well in advance of their retreat.

Please fly into the Cancun International Airport (CUN). Transfers will be arranged from the airport only.  Arrival transfers will only be offered for flights arriving between the hours of 1pm and 5pm on arrival day and flights departing between 10am and 2pm on the departure date.

Breathe easy… after a good portion of your day spent on the plane we’re only going to ask you to sit still for a 30min ride.  After that you are free to run it out on the beach, dance up a storm on the rooftop deck and yoga yourself silly.

This gorgeous yoga retreat center is directly across the street from the beach. It is in a residential, less touristy, section of town and gives you the best of both worlds; a quiet street for window shopping your way into town or a white sand beach across the street for relaxing, strolling and swimming.

Absolutely.  You can be as wired, or unwired, as you’d like.

Nope, you’re covered!  The yoga room has mats, towels and blocks.  Straps are the only prop you may want to bring if you use it regularly in your practice.  You are welcome to bring your own mat and yoga props, but they are not required.

Naturally! Of course, there is the warm, clear ocean, but there is also a lovely pool at the ready. And don’t forget our water days as we splash down in the cenotes and snorkel with sea turtles.

No and yes. This is a vegetarian retreat center and meat is not served.  Eggs will be provided at breakfast for protein needs and some dinners may feature fish or seafood. Any dietary need or restriction can be accommodated (except adding meat…ha), provided that you notify us at least four weeks in advance.

Our camps will provide plenty of fresh and filtered drinking water.  You will want to bring a reusable water bottle with you for daily use and while out on walks and drives.  Please note that plastic water bottles are NOT recycled in Africa so it is important to avoid using them when possible.

This is a dry retreat center, so they do not sell alcohol on property and ask that it not be brought into the rooms. Those of you on a detox-delicious-food-yoga-week, rejoice! Those of you who would like to partake, never fear… there is a sweet little restaurant/bar across the street that stretches out to the beach and would be happy to help you out with a libation in your hand and your toes in the sand.

Yes!  Of course.  Once you’re booked you’ll receive an email with important logistical information and a link to your invoice.  You can pay any amount at any time on the invoice; you can use it as a payment plan or leave it alone until the final due date. Remember that deposits are non-refundable so, on all trips, we recommend purchasing travel insurance.

Michelle Corp

Michelle first stumbled onto a yoga mat in 2003 at the Jivamukti Yoga School in NYC with a friend encouraging her to try yoga. She was profoundly changed by the experience.  The philosophy, chanting, asanas, and meditation brought her closer to her ‘self’ than she’d ever experienced. Michelle’s yoga journey led to explorations of many styles: Ashtanga, Bikram, Jivamukti, Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, Sattva, Budokan, Primal Yoga, and Shadow Yoga, in which she had the privilege of apprenticing under Matt Pesendian for 3 years.

Her trainings took her across the country and around the world to the ‘Yoga Capital’ of Rishikesh, India where she completed the first Warriors of Wisdom Training with the Sattva Yoga Family.  After completing her RYT-200hr training with Joan Hyman at Yogaworks, Michelle went on to study and complete her Primal Flow Yoga training under the guidance of founder Liz Arch. In 2017 she had the pleasure of completing her Yoga for Trauma teacher training with Liz Arch & Kate Berlin (creator) of The Purple Dot Yoga Project, a non profit organization that raises awareness for domestic violence by supporting and empowering individuals affected by abuse and trauma.

Michelle draws upon her 14 years of education with incredible teachers as well as life experience to weave together dynamic classes that are playful, inspriring, and deeply grounding. Students are guided to harness the breath (prana) through flowing primal movements that cultivate qi, strength, focus, and a deep connection to ‘self’.

JL Chiemingo

Jenniferlyn is known affectionately by her students and friends as JL… And the words ‘JOY, LOVE, YOGA’ describe her head to toe.

Through yoga on the mat and in travel – JL’s goal is to provide her students with the opportunity to experience genuine joy, love, and connection (a.k.a. yoga). JL’s unique yoga teaching style is a creation all her own and an experience that all will benefit from. She is both flowing and grounded. Her classes are joyful, loving, spiritual, and inspiring. When you step away from one of her Vinyasa classes, you will feel more connected to yourself and the world around you. She provides loving support to newbies while continually challenging her regular practitioners to find greater depths in their practice.

JL first experienced yoga in 2000 when she was looking for a way to escape the daily stress from her job as a TV news producer in northern California. That was when yoga started to change her life. Overcome by the power and benefits of yoga in her own life, JL decided to move her career from the newsroom to the yoga mat in 2002. With curiosity and ambition, she followed her dream and began her training at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health with an emphasis in Integrative Yoga Therapy.
