Find paradise in the in-between…this Mexico yoga retreat skips the hustle and bustle of Playa del Carmen and Tulum while retaining the fun and energy of both; it sits across from the beach yet delivers top-deck ocean views and beach-bum relaxation. Set yourself up in the chilled out rooms, sun-kissed yoga studio and beach deck for a week of vitamin D yoga-it-all-out beach bliss.
Our Mexico yoga retreat delivers the best of the Mayan Riviera. We’ll hit the ruins, dive with the wild things, explore the cenotes and get hands-on at a local Mayan village for a delicious cooking and culture excursion. All of our Mexico yoga trips are guided with head and heart by local experts so that each trip leaves you with a deeper sense of the people and wildlife that make up this natural paradise.
When not heading out to explore as a group there is time to master the ever elusive excursion of “relaxing”… here the days are yours to luxuriate over yoga, cuisine, sunshine and that book that’s been sitting on your night stand. This Mexico yoga retreat will deepen your practice, rejuvenate your soul and feed your heart.
All retreat rooms feature air conditioning, fans and mosquito netting (though with AC and/or a fan, the nets serve a more decorative function). All rooms are tastefully decorated and feature cool, sleek floors to chill down sand-hot toes. Private and beautiful bathrooms accompany all but two bedrooms.
Casa Om is designated as a ‘dry’ yoga retreat facility. While we ask our yogis to respect that request on property, we’ll also tell you that the adorable (and yummy) Unico is across the street from Casa Om and is happy to hand you a cerveza while you chill on their beach front swings or garden patio…
Schedules will vary slightly and final itineraries will go out to the travel crew about a month prior to departure. Our schedule below gives you an overall picture of what a Mexico yoga retreat week will look like:
The excursions listed below are a small sampling. We recommend that you arrive, settle in at the yoga retreat center, and explore before you hone in on your preferred excursions. Prices are subject to change; please ask excursion operators to quote current rates before booking.
Cenotes (if you didn’t get enough the first time)
The Mayan Riviera is flush with these beautiful underground pools and a trip here isn’t complete without a dip in these refreshing waters. There are multiple cenotes to visit that are much less crowded than those in the Tulum area and only about 30 min away by car. Find tranquility below ground or liven you experience with a cenote/zip line combination. Both options are available and booking at least a day in advance is recommended
$35 per person
Snorkeling & Snuba
The biodiversity on the protect reef in the Mayan Riviera is stunning. Take off for an afternoon when the sun lights up the corals, tropical fish and sponges and search for turtles or reef sharks. Snorkelers can float above it all while snuba divers (no certification needed) can swim down into the tropical traffic. Either option will highlight why this area is protected and turned into a National Marine Park. Yogis can walk to the beach and take a 5min stroll to reach the operator. This natural oasis is literally steps from our retreat center.
Snorkeling starting at $39 per person & Snuba starting at $69 per person
If you’re a diver there’s twice the opportunity here, you can dive in the coral reefs or, for something a little different, take a cavern or cenote dive. Seasonally the more adventurous (crazy?) yogis can also try a bull shark dive…eek! Tons of diving options await the intrepid.
Starting at $69 per person
Whale Shark Swim
You can get up close and personal snorkeling with these gentle and graceful giants. Jump in May through September when they migrate from all over to their chosen annual feeding spots (don’t worry, these veggie fish aren’t looking to swallow you).
$159 per person
The Mayan ruins at Coba is one of the few sites in the Yucatan that is still relatively unrestored. Many of these ancient buildings are the same as when they were rediscovered in 1890. The beautiful location is less hectic and touristy than other Mayan sites and is certainly worth the day trip.
$45 per person
Casa Om Spa
Whether you’re looking for an amazing massage or energy work, The Travel Yogi team can tell you first hand how amazing the team at Casa Om is. Please be prepared to book early to secure a spot. Once the word gets out from the first few massages, they’ll book up quickly!
Options starting at $55 per person
Do I need a passport/visa?
U.S. citizens will need a passport to visit Mexico, but no visa is required at this time. Nationals of all other countries should check travel requirements well in advance of their retreat.
What airport should I fly into?
Please fly into the Cancun International Airport (CUN). Transfers will be arranged from the airport only. Arrival transfers will only be offered for flights arriving between the hours of 1pm and 5pm on arrival day and flights departing between 10am and 2pm on the departure date.
How far is the schlep from the airport to the retreat?
Breathe easy… after a good portion of your day spent on the plane we’re only going to ask you to sit still for a 30min ride. After that you are free to run it out on the beach, dance up a storm on the rooftop deck and yoga yourself silly.
Are we on the beach?
This gorgeous yoga retreat center is directly across the street from the beach. It is in a residential, less touristy, section of town and gives you the best of both worlds: a quiet street for window shopping your way into town or a white sand beach across the street for relaxing, strolling and swimming.
Will we have access to WiFi?
Absolutely. You can be as wired, or unwired, as you’d like.
Do I need to bring my own mat, blocks, straps, etc?
Nope, you’re covered! The yoga room has mats, towels and blocks. Straps are the only prop you may want to bring if you use it regularly in your practice. You are welcome to bring your own mat and yoga props, but they are not required.
Is there swimming?
Naturally! Of course, there is the warm, clear ocean, but there is also a gorgeous pool at the ready. Don’t forget about planning a dip in the cenotes!
Can I add meat to my meals and can my dietary restrictions/needs be accommodated?
No and yes. This is a vegetarian retreat center and meat is not served. Eggs will be provided at breakfast for protein needs and some dinners may feature fish or seafood. Any dietary need or restriction can be accommodated (except adding meat…ha), provided that you notify us at least two weeks in advance.
Is there alcohol on property?
This is actually a dry retreat center, so they do not sell alcohol on property and ask that it not be brought into the rooms. Those of you on a detox-delicious-food-yoga-week, rejoice!
Those of you who would like to partake, never fear… there is a sweet little restaurant/bar across the street that stretches out to the beach and would be happy to help you out with a libation in your hand and your toes in the sand.
Do I need to book and/or pay for any optional activities before I arrive?
Nope, you can book them before you arrive or while on property. Get there and see what you want to do!
