Let’s talk about pleasure. 😊
Not the “cancel your plans and order fries for dinner” kind (though we support that, too). We mean the deeper kind of pleasure that restores you. The kind that reminds you life is meant to be experienced, and not just managed!
Many adults have somehow convinced themselves that this kind of pleasure is optional. Well, newsflash…it’s NOT!
Research increasingly suggests that intentional leisure and genuine downtime support emotional well-being, help regulate stress, and give the brain and body the recovery space they need to function at their best.
In other words: pleasure isn’t indulgent. It’s maintenance.
When we allow ourselves real free time — actual, disconnected, fully-off-duty time — our minds have space to reset. Attention improves. Creativity returns. Mental fatigue softens. That low-level static hum of What am I forgetting? What’s next? Did I reply to that email? begins to quiet down.
And then something even better happens: We remember how to be where we are…
That’s part of why travel feels so powerful.
Novel experiences challenge the brain in healthy ways, encouraging adaptability, learning, and fresh perspectives. When we step outside our routines and into unfamiliar landscapes, cultures, and rhythms, we naturally become more present.
You notice and feel more simultaneously. Time stretches in that delicious way it somehow never does when you’re sitting through your third Zoom call of the day, ha.
Then there’s awe! It’s rare, wonderful and gives you the feeling of being completely humbled by beauty.
Think of a glacier in Iceland. Or sea lions gliding through the Galápagos. Sunrise over Machu Picchu. Maybe that first glimpse of the Adriatic at sunrise in Croatia.
Studies suggest that experiences of awe can help us feel more connected, more grounded, and less consumed by the daily noise that usually occupies our attention. Basically, science agrees with what your vacation photos have been trying to tell you all along: This stuff is good for you.
And not just in a “nice break from work” way. In a this is part of being well way.
Somewhere along the line, many of us learned to treat pleasure like dessert: lovely, but unnecessary. Something to “earn” after the important things are finished. As if joy should wait patiently at the back of the line until your inbox hits zero. (We’d like to formally report that your inbox will never hit zero.)
This is exactly why we believe so deeply in what we do.
At The Travel Yogi, our yoga adventures are designed to create intentional space for pleasure, not as an afterthought, but as an essential part of well-being.
We choose to build these adventures for a multitude of wellness philosophies in mind. Physical movement because it feels good. Time to breathe deeply without multitasking. The sharing of meals that last longer than they need to. Watching the sunset without documenting it for performance metrics. To remember who you are when no one needs anything from you for at least several glorious hours.
And judging by how quickly 2026 is filling up, many of you are clearly prioritizing that kind of joy accordingly (as you should).
- Our July Iceland adventure is down to its final room
- Fall is moving quickly, too. September Iceland has one final female roommate spot. October Croatia is nearly full (or already waitlist-only, depending on the week). October Peru and our July & November Galápagos departure have officially entered email us and manifest aggressively territory.
- Meanwhile, Sicily, Italy, Panama, Vietnam & Cambodia, and Colombia are still welcoming travelers wise enough to know that joy deserves a confirmed reservation.
Pleasure rarely happens by accident. It gets planned. It gets protected. It gets claimed before life fills the space for you.
So if your nervous system has been quietly requesting a change of scenery… Consider this your sign. The world is full of places ready to remind you how good it feels to be here. And lucky for you, we know exactly how to get there.
Explore our 2026 adventures before the final spots disappear. Your future self will be very, very pleased.
