We have excellent news…!
For anyone who enjoys yoga with a side of whale encounters, beach glamping, and questionably excessive taco consumption that is.
We’re re-introducing Mexico to our adventure map. And honestly, it was about time.
After some time away, The Travel Yogi is officially returning to Baja with newly reimagined itineraries that showcase the wildly beautiful side of Mexico most travelers never get to see.
Not the crowded resort version. Not the spring-break highlight reel.
We’re talking about the Baja where desert cliffs tumble into turquoise water, wildlife encounters feel almost suspiciously well-timed, and every day is balanced with yoga, salty air, and the kind of contentment that makes checking your inbox feel deeply unnecessary.
Our (almost sold-out already we might add!) 2027 departures just so happen to land during one of Baja’s most magical natural events: gray whale season.
This is Baja in its most extraordinary state.
Why Baja?
Very few places on earth offer this kind of biodiversity.
The Sea of Cortés — often referred to as “the Aquarium of the World” by marine enthusiasts and conservationists, including Jacques Cousteau — is one of the most biodiverse marine ecosystems on the planet, with roughly 39% of the world’s marine mammal species recorded in its waters.
Which means wildlife encounters here aren’t exactly rare. Depending on the season, your days may include:
- Spotting gray whales and their calves in Magdalena Bay
- Snorkeling alongside playful sea lions or majestic whale sharks
- Watching blue-footed boobies strut around with suspicious levels of confidence
- Kayaking protected estuaries filled with birdlife
- Exploring coral-rich waters by snorkel, paddleboard, or kayak
It’s the kind of place that makes you remember just how wildly alive this planet is. And somehow, that’s only part of the magic.
Our next trips? We’re going for Whale Season

Our currently open January and February 2027 departures (but only one room left in January!) coincide with Baja’s legendary gray whale season, and trust us, this is a great moment to experience it.
Each winter, gray whales migrate to the protected waters of Magdalena Bay to calve and nurture their young. Known for their famously curious nature, these gentle giants often approach boats entirely on their own terms, creating the kind of encounters that stay with you.
During these departures, you’ll:
- Travel north to Magdalena Bay
- Glamp beside the water beneath vast desert skies
- Kayak peaceful tidal estuaries
- Birdwatch with expert local guides
- Practice open-air yoga surrounded by dunes and sea
- Spend unforgettable time observing these remarkable animals in their natural habitat
It’s immersive, humbling, and just the right amount of wild.
Baja Has Another Side, Too
While our current departures are all about whales, Baja transforms beautifully throughout the rest of the year.
Outside whale season, this adventure shifts toward the dazzling waters of the Sea of Cortés, including an island glamping experience on Espíritu Santo Island.
That version of the journey leans into:
- Snorkeling vibrant reefs
- Paddleboarding crystal-clear water
- Swimming near playful sea lions
- Sunset beach sound baths
- Coral restoration experiences that support local marine ecosystems
In other words: Baja doesn’t exactly have an off-season. It just changes outfits.
Then There’s Todos Santos
Adventure needs balance, which is where Todos Santos comes in.
This colorful pueblo mágico offers the perfect contrast to Baja’s wild edges: historic charm, local artisans, laid-back surf culture, and just enough buzz to remind you civilization still exists (even if you’re not especially interested in rejoining it yet).
Here, you’ll have time to:
- Surf (whether you’re experienced or gloriously brand new)
- Wander historic streets
- Relax beachside with a long lunch
- Browse local boutiques and galleries
- Join a hands-on Mexican cooking class
- Lounge poolside, book a massage, or master the fine art of doing absolutely nothing
A wildly underrated life skill, if you ask us.
The Yoga That Holds It All Together
As always, yoga isn’t an afterthought here. It’s woven into the natural rhythm of the trip.
Morning sessions energize you for the day’s adventures — whether that means whale watching, paddling, hiking, snorkeling, or exploring town.
Evening practices invite you to slow down, breathe deeply, and absorb everything the day offered. It becomes the thread connecting movement and stillness, adventure and reflection, wonder and presence. And somewhere along the way, you remember what it feels like to feel fully here.
Join Us in Baja’s Whale Season
Our first departure to kick off the new itinerary will be January 15-22, 2027, followed shortly after by February 13-20, 2027.
Two departures. Peak whale season. One wildly beautiful Mexico.
Mexico is back.
And trust us — you’ll want in.
